What is it?
The Moscow School District has limited openings for 3-year-old “peer partners” in the Developmental Preschool, located at McDonald Elementary. The purpose of our peer partners is to integrate our students with exceptional needs with typically-developing students. All of our students gain valuable life experience from attending this integrated program. Our peer program is offered for $35.00 per month (checks must be made payable to: Moscow School District Office, 650 N. Cleveland St, Moscow ID 83843.) These should be sent at the beginning of each month, excluding June). Class meets Tuesday through Friday mornings from 8:30 to 10:30 AM (session 1) or 12:00 to 2:00 PM (session 2) . Parents are asked to be mindful of our staff’s time by picking up and dropping off their children right on time.
How can my child participate in the Peer Partner Program?
You may contact us via phone or email to express your interest. If our peer program is full, parents Peer Partner candidates are placed on a waiting list. We may ask to meet your child prior to accepting them into the program to ensure that they are a good fit into our program. The function of a peer in our program is to provide developmentally-appropriate modeling for our students with exceptional needs. You will be given an informational packet to fill out about your child and your family. If your child is selected, you will be notified as soon as possible prior to the beginning of school. Tuition is $35 per month (paid directly to the Moscow School District Office) to cover costs of snacks, art supplies and other materials.
PLEASE NOTE: We are full for the 2017-2018 school year, and will not be accepting applications until next year.

What kinds of things will my child learn?
One of the biggest things our peers come away with from our program is a sense of empathy and acceptance for others’ diverse needs. Many parents have reported to us that their children have gained a stronger sense of community and compassion with other students who may look or act differently than themselves. Of course, being a preschool program, our curriculum covers topics ranging from the basic pre-academics (letters, numbers, colors, early phonics, scientific reasoning) to other units of discussion such as the seasons, families, animals and transportation. We follow a Language Unit schedule to cover many topics of interest to young children. Our curriculum is eclectic in that it combines elements from Creative Curriculum, child-initiated projects, concepts from Love and Logic, individual needs of each student, and is wholly based on standards of the Idaho Early Learning Guidelines.

- Be able to attend preschool Tue-Fri from 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM or 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM with regular attendance
- Turn 3 before September 1st of that academic year
- Be toilet trained
- Have age-appropriate communication, social-emotional and play skills
- Communicate effectively in English
